While our earth should be celebrated every day, Earth Day is a great time to spend extra time outdoors and give back to our planet — whether that’s by introducing more sustainable daily habits, volunteering time to clean local green spaces, or simply saving paper with Notability.

Now onto some facts.

Did you know…

You read that right! An average office worker consumes about 20 reams of paper a year. That’s 1.2 trees a year! And the average American uses about seven trees a year in paper products. This amounts to roughly 2,000,000,000 trees per year.

The pulp and paper industry is one of the largest industrial (air, water, and land) polluters in North America. And the majority of paper gets wasted instead of recycled (only about 28.1 percent of nondurables generated were recovered in 2018 according to the EPA). It’s also worth mentioning that the paper that does make it to recycling facilities cannot be processed indefinitely because the fibers get shorter with each processing. So it’s best to avoid paper consumption whenever possible to help protect our environment.

1 tree can help absorb about 2,000lbs of CO2 in its lifetime. And of course, is home to many life forms.

By going paperless with Notability you can not only help save trees and reduce your carbon footprint, but also save forest habitats, conserve water, and reduce waste pollution.

Here are other ways you can make an impact on the environment:

Whenever possible…

🤧 Use cloth napkins, rags and towels
☕️ Use recycled paper and paper products.
🍹 Use metal or glass straws.
🥖 Bring your own shopping bag
🚲 Walk and bike (carpool if you must drive).
♻️ Recycle and compost.
💡 Use energy efficient bulbs and appliances
🍓 Shop locally.

And if you want to make an even bigger impact, you can purchase our brand new Earth Day Celebration sticker pack (now available in the Notability Shop with our latest update). Through the month of May, 100% of the proceeds from this pack will be donated to a conservation organization (name and info will be announced after donation).

Remember Earth Day is every day 🌍✨
